The Quidditch Post is delighted to announce the hiring of Mo Waja as its new Chief Operations Officer (COO), effective immediately. Waja comes to the Quidditch Post with experience in entrepreneurship and digital marketing across social media marketing, content marketing, and brand strategy. Waja will join interim co-CEOs Austin Wallace and Andy Marmer, CFO Ryan Cleary, and interim Editor-in-Chief (EIC) Lindsay Garten as a member of the Quidditch Post’s C-suite.
It may not be much, but it will make it easier for qualifying teams in the Northwest and West regions to make the trek to Florida. US Quidditch has released the details of the grants available to West and Northwest teams that qualify for US Quidditch Cup 10. Each of the 11 qualifying teams (nine from the West and two from the Northwest) will be eligible for a $450 grant, which effectively covers the team registration fee at the national tournament. The Quidditch Post is saddened to announce that Chula Bruggeling has resigned as Chief Executive Officer effective immediately. She will be remaining with the Quidditch Post as Europe Director, a position she has held since April 2016, including concurrently with the CEO position from September 2016.
The Portland Augureys have announced this week that they will be removing themselves from Quidditch Conference of the Northwest (QCON) competition due to a dwindling player base.
“We regret that we cannot continue competing as our own team,” said Benji B’Shalom, co-captain of the Augureys. “With several of our players moving away, we no longer have enough people to even scrape together small rosters for events.”
The Quidditch Post has learned through a document provided by an internal source that the International Quidditch Association has had its application to become a charitable incorporated organisation rejected by the Charity Commission, the regulator for such bodies in the United Kingdom.
Chris Daw, official spokesperson for the four IQA Trustees, has reached out to the Quidditch Post to rectify earlier statements. Contrary to earlier reports from Tournament Director Matthew Guenzel, requests for refunds, resulting from Uganda’s drop from World Cup 2016that was announced earlier today, will be taken from all donors to the Uganda Indiegogo campaign, the Quidditch Post can exclusively reveal. All requests for refunds will be fulfilled, however without a request for a refund, the funds will remain with the IQA.
By Quidditch Post Staff In a story reverberating throughout the worldwide quidditch community, the Quidditch World Cup Organizing Committee has officially announced on July 8 that due to an inability to obtain visas to travel to Germany, Uganda has dropped from the tournament slated to begin in just over two weeks.
The Quidditch Post can now officially reveal that the 2016 European Quidditch Cup (EQC 2016) will be held in Gallipoli, Italy. The venue will be Ecoresort Le Sirenè, located 5 kilometers outside Gallipoli itself. The dates of the tournament have not yet been finalised, but will be announced shortly, and will be between April 2 and 26 inclusive. The winning bid from the Italian town was competing against one other bid, also from Italy.
QuidditchUK today announced that Vice President Matthew Guenzel and Teams Director Andy Cooke will be leaving the organisation. Guenzel's departure will take effect immediately, while Cooke will continue as teams director for two weeks so a replacement can be found. The Quidditch Post received this joint statement from Guenzel and Cooke and have their permission to publish it.

The Belgian Quidditch Federation (BQF) announced today a series of major changes for the coming season that it hopes will make quidditch in Belgium more competitive and widespread than ever before. Releasing the news exclusively through the Quidditch Post, the BQF revealed plans for three new fixtures of the Belgian quidditch calendar: a Belgian Quidditch League, the Belgian Cup, and the Belgian Super Cup.

On Friday, the French Quidditch Federation (FQF) was hit by three high profile resignations from President Orel Cosseron, Treasurer Alexandre Delaby, and Secretary Yves Ferraris-Bouchez. The search for replacements for these higher-level management figures will take place over the next two weeks, with French teams electing successors from the applicants.

Melanie Piper was today announced as the fourth President of QuidditchUK, taking over as the current President, Amy Maidment, steps down from the position. After a successful tenure as Teams Director, Piper will be looking to consolidate QuidditchUK’s strong position a year after a major overhaul. Purdue Intercollegiate Quidditch Association have confirmed, in an exclusive statement made to the Quidditch Post, that they will no longer be attending World Cup 8. The bid was then offered to Southern Illinois University (which did not complete its gameplay requirements) and (as confirmed by coach Brandon Gillespie) Eastern Michigan University, both of which declined the bid.
