Summary: We have a major upset as seventh-seeded Max Havlin took down second-seeded Colin Capello on the fan vote. Although Capello was more popular with our judges, Havlin edged him by four votes. Top-seeded Asher King-Abramson cruised over Trevor Campbell, while No. 3 seed Peter Lee took the crown of top male beater on the Lost Boys with a fan vote win over No. 6 Chris Seto. In the final quarterfinal, David Gilbert thwarted an all-UCLA semifinal with an upset over No. 4 Andy Abayan. Gilbert will face King-Abramson in one semifinal, looking for to finish his revenge for the World Cup VI semifinal defeat his Baylor squad suffered to UCLA. Havlin will face Lee in a battle that puts the Northeast’s top beater against a former regional rival turned cross country foe. nhj
