Bruggeling Resigns as CEO

The Quidditch Post is saddened to announce that Chula Bruggeling has resigned as Chief Executive Officer effective immediately. She will be remaining with the Quidditch Post as Europe Director, a position she has held since April 2016, including concurrently with the CEO position from September 2016.

“It’s with great sadness that I handed in my resignation as CEO earlier this week,” said Bruggeling. “Ever since I joined the Quidditch Post back at the start of 2016, I’ve loved it. I love the idea of our organisation, of people from all across the world to get together and cover this sport we all know and love, and I am immensely proud of what we have been able to achieve together. I had hoped to be able to lead the Quidditch Post forward as its CEO, but unfortunately, due to personal circumstances, I can no longer give this incredible organisation the time it deserves from its highest leadership. It was an honour being its CEO, even if it was only for a few months.”

Long-time Chief Operating Officer Austin Wallace will be stepping into the void as interim-CEO. Co-Founders Andy Marmer and Lindsay Garten are also returning to leadership roles on an interim basis to aid in the transition, Marmer as co-CEO and Garten as Editor-in-Chief. Due to Marmer’s position on the IQA Board of Trustees, he will not be involved in any matters concerning the IQA, or its member NGBs.

“When we needed a CEO, Chula stepped up because she needed to,” said Wallace. “What she did for all of us when she took on CEO is incredible, and she did an amazing job. I want to thank her from the bottom of my heart. She has left her mark on the organization.”

In addition to her volunteer position with the Quidditch Post, Bruggeling is the President of Quidditch Nederland; an active member of the IQA Congress, and the IQA’s European Committee; an experienced head referee traveling regularly to international tournaments and officiating at World Cup 2016 (assistant referee for a semifinal match), European Quidditch Cup 2016 (EQC) (semifinals assistant referee), Belgium Quidditch Cup 2016 (finals head referee), Coupe de France 3 (finals assistant referee); and the Assistant Tournament Director for EQC2017.
