Effective immediately, the Quidditch Post is thrilled to announce two internal promotions and one external hire to upper management staff: Sarah Goad, Taylor Veracka, and Aaron Carroll, respectively. They join Austin Wallace and Jack Lennard, our existing Chief Operating Officers. In order for our readers to get to know our new management, here is a little bit about them:
Sarah Goad, the new Chief Quality Officer (CQO), has been involved with the quidditch community since fall of 2010, when she attended IQA World Cup V as a spectator. She has played for College of Charleston Quidditch and Florida’s Finest. She has volunteered in quidditch media since joining the then-IQA (now USQ) in 2013. Goad was responsible for leading the Quidditch Post’s coverage of the South region from July 2015 until January 2016. She has served as the Director of Editing since the Quidditch Post’s establishment in October 2014.
“I’m quite excited about the prospect of trying new things within the organization,” said Goad. “I’m lucky in that I’ve been positioned from the start to possess a certain level of familiarity with the community and upper management. This familiarity has made it easy to be comfortable voicing my opinions and making executive decisions in the copy department and, with this promotion, other departments as well. I’m grateful, and I hope to do good, innovative work.”
Goad has known and collaborated with Quidditch Post CEOs Andy Marmer and Lindsay Garten for nearly three years; with them, she is one of the founding members of the Quidditch Post.
“Sarah has been with us since the very beginning,” said Marmer. “She epitomizes the organization’s values of camaraderie, dedication, passion, and family. Internally, she has long been a leader and a role model to our staff, and her promotion to CQO recognizes the reality that so many of our volunteers look to her as a mentor and for guidance.”
Taylor Veracka, the new Chief Brand Officer (CBO), began playing quidditch in September 2014 with the Hopkins Hallows at Johns Hopkins University. She started working with the Quidditch Post in August 2015 as the Mid-Atlantic Regional Editor before becoming the Assistant US Editor, and now CBO.
“This has been one of the greatest decisions I’ve ever made,” said Veracka of her time with the Quidditch Post. “I’ve learned so much and met so many amazing people, and I can’t wait to help with the expansion of this incredible network in a more integral position.”
In addition to playing quidditch and volunteering with the Quidditch Post, Veracka is also directing and producing a documentary about the evolution of the sport of quidditch and how her own team fits into the sport, so keep an eye out for a Quidditch Post exclusive on that later in 2016.
“Since joining the Quidditch Post, Taylor’s passion for the sport and our organization has been apparent,” said Marmer. “I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with her in her various capacities and have been constantly impressed by her work ethic, dedication, and abilities. Having her in a CBO role will be a benefit not just for the Quidditch Post but for the sport as well.”

Aaron Carroll is an external hire for the Quidditch Post and will act as the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). Prior to his position here, he was a casual observer of the sport, watching old highlights and following USQ and IQA announcements. What Carroll lacks in experience with the sport, he makes up for in passion and managerial experience. His background includes non-profit management with organizations such as Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda, Inc. and the March of Dimes. He also holds a Master of Public Health with an emphasis in health policy and management.
“I am excited to put my degree to work,” Carroll said. “To be able to come into such a large organization and help develop leaders in the quidditch community and shape policy is something I look forward to.”
“Aaron really impressed our leadership when we interviewed him,” said Marmer. “His ability to understand the challenges we face and offer practical solutions convinced all of us that he is a great fit for the Quidditch Post. In his first days with us he has shown an incredible aptitude for understanding the sport and our organization.”
