Deputy Editor in Chief

Job Purpose

The Deputy Editor in Chief is the assistant to the Quidditch Post’s editorial leader, who oversees all articles and publications. The Deputy Editor in Chief would assist the Editor in Chief in overseeing all of the regional departments, as well as the copy and layout departments, and ensuring that articles come out in a timely manner. The Deputy Editor in Chief would also aide in reviewing all articles and providing suggestions, if needed, about any changes to make before the articles get published.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Motivating and developing editorial staff
  • Revise articles in conjunction with the regional editors, writers, and the copy department
  • Implements quality checks to ensure articles meet organizational standards
  • Assist in proofreading all articles prior to publication to ensure the final draft is complete and there are no omissions
Qualifications
  • An expert understanding of the English language
  • Knowledge of/willingness to learn AP Style
  • Ability to motivate and manage a team of volunteers
  • Desire to see the Quidditch Post thrive
  • A passion for writing and quidditch
