Why was it even a debate? What's wrong with whimsy AND competition? Sure you play to win. Sure you take the game seriously -- just not TOO seriously. Keep the "fun" in "fundamentals."<br /><br />I would hate to see quidditch become just another sport.<br /><br />Now as a practical matter, there will need to be multiple divisions to accommodate various levels of play. Most basketball players, after all, do not play for the NBA. They play in their backyards, or at their local rec centers. Some play in organized leagues, but still do not aspire to play professionally. <br /><br />Yet surely these are the folks who may be more likely to go out to see a game, to coach a team, or volunteer to officiate. And as a French player who was here at the birth of French Quidditch, I can testify that it's been happening in France for about 2 years now.
